The Notre Dame Marching band is the oldest college band in the United States. Founded in 1842 the band was honored by being declared a Landmark of American Music by the National Music Council, the Indiana Music Educators Association and Exxon Corporation during the 1976 U.S. Bicentennial.
Along with the Notre Dame Marching band students can also participate in concert bands, jazz bands, section ensembles and varsity bands at Notre Dame.
